Right now im creating a project on Vegas 12 (early stage) doing some test renders to review my progress so far.

I've been using .wmv video settings for 720p @ 8mbit 29 NTSC framerate...

is there any way to make vegas "see" any H264 plugin so i can render on .avi format ?
what steps should i follow? Any tips?

thanks in advance.

oh oh oh.... same problem I had lol :|

Basically you have to download a pluggin to open .avi files in Vegas. Can't remember the name right now but you can find it in google. (Sony vegas .avi pluggin, something like that)

:thumb:

Take attention at the Vegas version you have. If you download a Vegas 10 plugging the plugging will not work I think.

Well, i can open any .avi file.... the problem is that i cannot save it as h264 format...

...avi uncompressed, YUV Sony, etc works fine, but there's not an option for h264

If you install x264vfw properly, Vegas should recognize it correctly. All my videos on youtube are done with Vegas 11 using the x264vfw, I've never had any problems with it.

No, it makes no difference. The software should interact with all the codecs the same way. Question is if it is installed the right way so Sony is aware of the codec. :)

Have you tried the 64-bit version of x264vfw? I think if Sony Vegas is native 64-bit, the codecs need to be 64-bit as well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV7cb2aMqYg

This is my video, recorded at 1280x720 (60fps).

I've added the footage (radio playing on background) on Vegas 12pro timeline, only fading-in/out the audio and video.

Rendered at 20Mbit Sony AVC (h264).
The quality of the result was GREAT when seeing this on my PC (.mp4 file) but when it comes to youtube upload, the result is shit.
You can clearly see the compression artifacts around moving objects.

Can you give me your render settings in sony vegas??
