Post subject:  Where are you guys?

Hi there!
Imho, seems like the server is dying. I dont know what rules or habits was in the last couple week/months, but i really loved to race at cargame servers.
I'd like to start a discussion about the choices and the possible solutions to make the server popular again.
I used to cruise in TC server these day, there you must start from scratch. Buy your own car, bagging cash etc.
And I realized, cruising is really boring for me, but i love to drive TB4 cars.
So, what if we can race
- only in 1 server, where is
- exact days when you can drive only Demo, S1, GT2, TB4, FBM, FOX etc cars.
I feel GT2 cars really boring after many laps.
I think its a good idea to bait drivers only to the 1 server. I think everybody has S2 or S3 licence already, if somebody not, he can choose from many other demo servers.
Not necessary to compete with many other servers, cargame has his own group of racers.
Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestions but I am afraid LFS racing days are counted (for now), there is a topic about this situation for quite some months;
https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/89404- ... servers%3F

To summarize, you need to drive alone on a server and before you know someone else joins and then someone else and then the server is full. Yeah, right. No. It doesn't work like that.

But on the bright side, there need to be seen that change is needed before there can be change. So for me it doesn't matter much that the servers are empty. Busy with other things anyway. If I detect popularity again then I will spend time on making things nice again but it's not the other way around anymore. Did enough the last six years, I think everything which could possibly be extracted, was extracted.

So.. Like last year I don't see any substantial progress but I am not closing the servers anymore.. It's no point in doing that because I accepted the current situation now.

Maybe we get surprised one day with new tire physics and some Volkswagen car. We will see

There's still some nice racing going on populated servers, but it's event oriented rather than pick-up racing:
City Liga (2 grids)
Virtual GP (20+ grid)
Rony's Tueseday events (20+ grid)
FM's FOX Friday (about 20)...
...and some other less populated but still interesting like LFS Suomi, for example.
There's a GTI pick-up racing server, which is 20+ drivers populated every night, so it's not like everything is dead, but more sleepy, I guess :)

But yes, I too miss the fun on CG (f)

I dont think, that's a big change, you've already built the infrastucture. Just should be a kind of reorganisation or reconfiguration, along the racers experiences or claims.
At least I was just started a conversation about the possible future of cargame.
We all know that LFS is very old, I think that was more than 10 years ago, when i was started to play.
Anyway, i just want to ask one thing. Lets make that daily carchanging system again. I'd love to race with TB4/TBO cars.
A few days ago, I was alone at S2 and somebody joined. He wanted to race only with GT2 after a few laps, he leaved.

There's still some

I know.. I am doing the stream broadcasting and commentary myself for CityLiga. Even gave away some S2->S3 upgrade vouchers there. But, I am not really interested about the current situation and the 'there is still some life'... I am interested in the future and the future doesn't look bright at this point. It would be a waste of time to invest in something which only seems to go down.

Yes thats your personal preference but sadly the other ten or twenty public racers still out there have all a different preference. I am sorry, I have twenty years of online community experience and this is not going to work anymore in this state of a community (what is left of it). Some big changes/decisions should be made which are not under my control.

Like I said I think I've extracted everything out of it which could be possible. Even rescued Airio lately from the instant-death (nobody even realized what was about to happen, should I just let it die or not, I now wonder  ) but you can throw a thousand idea's at whats left of this community but it is not going to work with the current toolset. Which is LFS 0.6P.

Don't get me wrong I am disappointed myself, but, I don't see chances for a structural change at this point in time which will lead to an increased popularity of LFS. I can't do that, I don't haz that powers. Already spammed a lot of suggestions but eeehhhhhhhhhh.... ye... In short; I am not the one which can make LFS popular again. I can promote a lot, but not this.

Yep, Scawen still insists on doing all by himself, which has its both good and bad sides. And general public today is a bit spoiled I should say, always asking for more no matter how much is offered.
And it's absurd how iRacing got to be the most popular racing sim for years now, charging way over a reasonable price to its customers. But that's the way it is, I guess :)

LFS is still fun for me, still provides good racing if you have good drivers to race with.
Yesterday I stumbled upon the Donkey Kong game. I started playing (for old times sake :P ) and soon my 9 year old son joined. Eventually he got annoyed how difficult it was  . But we had some good time.

I guess LFS will be classic too, but let's hope not that soon

Yeah, it might be coming towards its end, but hell... I had countless of hours, propably the best multiplayer experience i have ever had in racing games, and propably in general too. For that i'm eternally thankful

Shows that with great people running the servers and races can make wonders happen :)

But yeah, catch you all laters :lief:

Ye... This is pretty much the end.. Much more end is almost not possible.

I will follow whats going on with Automobilista... Maybe they are able to setup a good multiplayer bit  :/

LFS is hopeless.
